AVERY CONRAD
I love to paint, draw and sculpt. I chose to do tempera painting as one of my mediums. With this medium, I tried many different techniques including painting sunsets. I also chose to experiment with tempera painting using pour painting. Another one of my mediums is sculpting with clay. With this medium, I will build different things out of clay. Another reason why I chose these mediums is because I like to experiment with different ways of creating art. I use illustration in my sketchbook to plan my projects before creating them.
My work has developed a lot since I started studying art. I have been studying art for four years at Ashbury College. I now paint more complicated and difficult subjects, such as sunsets. My application skills have also improved a lot since I started studying art in. This year, I have also improved a lot, particularly with painting because I have spent lots of time practicing.
My art has been inspired by many artists including Feliks Kaparchuk, Yue Rou (Lucy) Lin, and Saila Kipanek. They have inspired all of my pieces in different ways. Feliks inspired me when I tried to recreate one of his sunset paintings on a small canvas. Lucy Lin inspired me because she is a painter and illustrator which are the mediums I have been working on and I love her detailed, fine lines. Saila Kipanek has inspired me as a sculptor because he makes sculptures that are important in the Inuit community.
My biggest challenge while working on my art has been finding a technique and staying with it. I have tried many different experiments and it was very difficult to find out what techniques to stick with. My greatest success is my mini canvas.
I hope my viewers will get inspired by some of my art. By getting inspired, maybe they will try it themselves.
