MICHELLE BRAY

I love the art of nature and I want to show people how nature can be represented. I ski competitively and when I’m in the chairlift I get to appreciate the beauty of the mountains and snow. My art depends on movement and different speeds. I then like to paint the photograph in an abstract way so that the people that look at my art can then see more than just what is in the picture. I paint with watercolors so that it gives a better flow to the art I produce. I also do face painting on the canvas of the human face to create an unusual look on people. I love the movement of the paint moving across the canvas of the human face. I love variety in my art because I am still trying to find what style or medium speaks to me more about the beauty of nature.

This year, I think I have improved my patience with making my art and I have learned more about my own style yet I am still in the process of exploring that part of my creativity. I have learned to use movement, foreground and background. I have learned this from different artists such as Grant Gunderson, James Charles and Gerhard Richter.

I have had trouble showing the beauty of nature in my art because it is such a hard thing to do in three different mediums. I’d like to merge my three different mediums to make one big art project.

I hope that my art inspires other people to show off the beauty of nature. I want people to understand that painting doesn't have to look realistic and that sometimes it is ok to see different things than the artist. I want people to understand how to recognize that there is so much beauty in our everyday life and the openness of nature.
