I chose to work in the mediums of painting, drawing and fashion design because of the freedom this allows me to express myself. With realistic art, the viewer is told what to see, but with the abstract approach, the viewer can see what they want to see and I enjoy providing that flexibility and openness. I also enjoy seeing how the paintings will turn out. The fluidity of the pouring approach leads to accidents and surprises.

I think I have progressed well in art throughout my time in the junior school and this year by finding what I’m interested in and what inspires me. I would say I have also tried news things that I would not be able to do at the beginning of this school year such as using gold powder and exploring fashion design.

I love to design clothes and draw for my other mediums because I can create something new and something that I like. I was inspired by the different textures and paints the artists created based on their moods and what inspires them. I approached this by being inspired by the artist but not completely following what they did.

The artist that I followed was Helen Frankenthaler  who is a famous acrylic pour paint artist, Morris Louis who is also an acrylic pour painting artist and for fashion design and drawing I researched the work of Coco Chanel.

My biggest challenge was working with wood because the wood wasn’t smooth, so the paint got caught on the wood chips. I also found the fire piece challenging because I kept running out of paint and I couldn't finish it the way I wanted.

My greatest success was “air peace” because of the colors and the canvas that really spoke to me and because it was the most fun to make. I also would say that my Metal painting was a huge success because I got to use gold powder on the painting at the end.

I hope they will experience joy in my artwork and they will understand the theme of my artwork. I love that I can envision what I want but also love that we all see different thing and I hope that’s what the viewer does.
