NOA DURAN

I love exploring different types of art and I decided to try a tempura brush painting.

My sister’s name is Marina, so Ms. Cragg gave me the idea of making a type of sea and gave me some examples and different techniques.

When I was younger, I liked painting and I wanted to try it out. My work has really improved on one-way, blending, I didn’t know how to do it but with online tutorials and learning techniques with Ms. Cragg’s help, I was able to create a piece by blending colours and being satisfied with it. In addition, with the help of my art teacher I was also able to learn a dotting technique to apply to my painting.

I liked the mix of colours the artist* used in the tutorial, so for my project, I tried making them and using them or order to create a close study, or reproduction. I also enjoyed how they project their art by the explanations of the videos.

My greatest challenge to date has been learning to blend the colours and getting them to look good with the other ones. Making different layers of colours has been quite difficult in addition to forming value with water.

I hope my viewers will be able to hear the calm sound of the sea and enjoy the tones of blue which will give them a comforting feeling.I want the ocean to inspire people through the layers of paint and bring then back to nature.
