SUMMER LAGIMODIÈRE

I chose these mediums because I wanted to express my creativity through architecture. I have been playing a video game called Minecraft since 2011, and this platform allows me to explore urban planning through architecture, interior design as well as coding. As I have progressed through the years, my building style has become more intricate and detailed.  I wanted to make art using technology, and focused on futuristic design. My main goal was to design a city that in the future is our reality. I am able to build in an environment that has no limits on weather, unlike Ottawa, so I can build without environmental considerations. In my build I was heavily inspired by Singapore and Hong Kong techniques.


 I have progressed since I started studying art this year in many ways. I have learned about many different architects and how many different steps they go through when designing. I have built over three buildings and one mansion and I have also drawn out blueprint sketches of some of the buildings. The last thing I will be doing is mainly interior and landscaping. The three main artists I am examining are, Goodtimeswith scar, Grian, and Blockworks. Goodtimeswithscar is my biggest inspiration for terraforming and landscaping. I have studied Grian and his beautiful, and detailed building techniques. I have watched over 50 of Grian’s videos of tutorials and other ideas. Where I got the idea of modern architecture was a team called Blockworks. They make builds so detailed they look real. 


All of the time that went into building the city I worked on creating was my biggest challenge. The landscape, structures, and interiors took over a total of 70 hours. We also had to pay for the server which is over 10$ a month. I hope viewers of my art will experience that they will feel like they are looking at a future city when they look at my art.
